When great evils were threatening Jerusalem, the true prophet Jeremias condemned the false prophets of his day for proclaiming “peace, peace: and there was no peace.” (Jer. 6:14) Today the false prophets proclaim likewise, and likewise there is no peace.

The Fatima revisionists tell us that Russia is “converting” because it was “consecrated” to the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1984. On June 26, 2000, the date the Vatican published the text of a vision contained in the Third Secret, Msgr. Bertone of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith went so far as to declare that “the decision of His Holiness Pope John Paul II to make public the third part of the ‘secret’ of Fatima brings to an end a period of history marked by tragic human lust for power and evil.” Peace, peace, they say. And yet there is no peace. The 600 million victims of abortion since the 1984 “consecration” will attest that man’s war against God has only intensified since over the past 17 years.

The Fatima revisionists speak of “the fall of communism,” but somehow fail to notice that one-third of the world’s population is still enslaved by communism in Red China and elsewhere. Russia itself remains firmly in the grip of “former” communists and the “former” KGB, who are busily reconstructing a Soviet-style authoritarian state (which never really went away) while the Fatima revisionists proclaim the “miracle” in Russia.

In all of this, China is the forgotten giant. That enslaved nation is a virtual showcase of the errors of Russia. The Fatima revisionists aren’t talking about the recent signing of a series of defense, military technology and economic agreements between Red China and “converted” Russia. As reported recently by World Net Daily (quoting the Hong Kong newspaper Tai Yang Pao), China is now engaged in a massive program of “combat readiness in regard to building PLA forces, developing new armaments and the research and development of high technology weapons.” Vice Chairman Zhang, of China’s Central Military Commission, has declared quite ominously that “laser and neutron weapons, among others, would be the deterrent weapons in a future conflict.”

If Russia was properly consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary some 17 years ago, why has it just signed defense, technology and economic agreements with Communist China, where the Catholic Church is mercilessly persecuted, loyal Catholics have been driven underground, and women are forced to undergo abortions? Peace, peace, they say. And there is no peace. When the history of this time is written, those who said peace, peace will stand condemned for their folly. That is something the Fatima revisionists should consider—from this Fatima perspective.
